Israel Confirms First Soldier Killed In Close Combat In Lebanon

Hezbollah said it confronted Israeli troops “infiltrating” the Lebanese town of Odaisseh, and “inflicted losses and forced them to retreat”. Later, Hezbollah said it is “engaged in clashes with the Israeli enemy’s soldiers who infiltrated the village of Maroun al-Ras from the east”. The Iran-backed group said that the clashes with Israeli troops are “ongoing”. Some reports claim 4 Israeli soldiers have been killed and 35 others injured in an ambush in Maroun al-Ras, southern Lebanon. The IDF announced that an officer was killed during fighting against Hezbollah, marking the first fatality of Israel’s ground operation in Lebanon. Meanwhile, on October 1, the IDF said it killed the commander of Hezbollah’s Unit 4400, which is tasked with delivering weapons from Iran and its proxies to Lebanon.
